Child Rights & Protection

The State Crime (Special Crime Unit), Criminal Investigation Department is committed to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and well-being of children. Every child deserves protection, care, education, and equal opportunities to grow in a safe and secure environment. However, many children remain vulnerable to neglect, exploitation, abuse, and deprivation of basic rights.

Child rights represent the fundamental entitlements of every individual below the age of 18, ensuring their survival, development, protection, and participation in society without discrimination.

Fundamental Rights of Children

Right to Survival

Every child has the right to life, proper nutrition, shelter, healthcare, and a safe environment necessary for healthy growth and development.

Right to Protection

Children must be protected from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harmful practices. Ensuring their safety is a primary responsibility of society and institutions.

Right to Development

Every child is entitled to education, learning opportunities, and overall physical, mental, and emotional development, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Right to Participation

Children have the right to express their views, access information, and participate in decisions that affect their lives in an appropriate and respectful manner.

Role of the Department

The State Crime Unit works to address crimes involving children by supporting awareness, reporting mechanisms, and coordination with appropriate legal authorities. Our objective is to promote child safety, encourage responsible reporting of offenses, and strengthen preventive measures against crimes affecting minors.

We emphasize lawful procedures, confidentiality, and sensitivity while dealing with cases related to children.

Public Awareness & Responsibility

Protecting children is a collective responsibility. The department actively promotes awareness regarding child safety, education rights, and legal protections. Citizens are encouraged to report any form of child abuse, exploitation, or neglect to the appropriate authorities without delay.

Commitment to a Safer Future

Despite progress in child welfare and legal frameworks, challenges remain in ensuring effective implementation. The State Crime Unit supports continuous efforts to strengthen systems, improve awareness, and create a secure environment where every child can live with dignity and opportunity.
